要當真正洋基球迷的一個要求,可說是要能說出已被洋基退休 的制服號碼,要知道那些球星有這些號碼.在洋基球場左外野著名的球星紀念園(Monument Park)中就陳列著已退休的16個制服號碼(如圖) .這16個號碼是1,3,4,5,7,8,8,9,10,15,16,23,32,37,44與49. 這16號碼中有5個是外野手的號碼(貝比魯斯,狄馬喬,曼托,馬里斯與傑克遜),4個是捕手的(貝拉,利基,孟遜与霍華),2個是一壘手的(蓋瑞格与馬丁利),2個是投手的(福特與基瑞),2個是教練的(史丹格與馬丁),1個是游擊手的(雷玆托).從這些號碼的分配,人們就能看出過去洋基最榮耀的是攻擊,所以能打長打的外野手佔有最多的5位,這包括3號的魯斯,5號的狄馬喬,7號的曼托與9號的馬里斯 .這些號碼中,從1到10的號碼也是最寶貴的,普通洋基球迷一定要知道在10號內的所有號碼是屬於誰.1是教練馬丁的,4是一壘手蓋瑞格的,兩個8是捕手貝拉與利基的,10是游擊手壘玆托的. 這10號內的號碼有兩個還沒被退休,這兩號碼是2與6號,現在誰有這兩號碼 ? 2是傑特的,現在的洋基隊長與游擊手,6是洋基教練托瑞的.這兩人在1996年加入洋基時,傑特只是一位未經考驗的新秀,托瑞是剛被紅雀炒魷魚的教練,但他們那時怎麼能得到這寶貴的2號與6號 ? 這只有用他們是命中注定加入洋基後將會飛黃騰達基來解釋.-許昭彥-

Led second baseman in double plays 1949-50-51-52."

Do you mean Yankees should retire Jackie Robinson's number? That would be a little bit strange, because Jackie never played for Yankees.
It would be more appropriate if all the MLB teams retire the number 42, but I don't think they will do it.

I made a mistake in my previous email.
The MLB did retired the number 42: "On April 15, 1997, Major League Baseball retired the number 42, the number Robinson wore, in recognition of his accomplishments both on the field and off the field."
This is probably what you meant. But my point is that this is different from retiring numbers wore by players/coaches associated with Yankees.
